ABOUT EQUITES BRITTANICUS BEACH

Britannicus Beach, or “Jack” was bred by Canadian Olympic Event Rider Sandra Donnelly, owner of Alborak Stables.  Jack is the first foal crop of Sandra’s advanced stallion Belshazzar.  Even in his earliest days, Jack exhibited many of the same characteristics of his sire: intelligence, bravery, independence, athleticism, and of course, incredible movement.  Watching Jack grow up, Sandra decided that Jack would be an upper level professionals’ prospect, and Sandra and Brian came up with a plan for Jack’s future development.  As one of Belshazzar’s first foals, they are excited for Jack’s future!

Jack is an intelligent, brave, sport horse gelding with a good work ethic that will excel in dressage with his head turning movement, showjumping jumping with his scope and lofty push from his hind end, and eventing with his cat like reflexes and quick thinking.  His dressage breeding has provided a floating trot that is simply beautiful to watch and sit.  His Beach Boy lineage has provided scope and athleticism that make him an enviable and very talented jumper.

While he is an incredible athlete, Jack is calm, quiet and easy to handle on the ground.  He is a strong, independent and intelligent horse with a regal but friendly demeanor.  Jack is most happy when working with his human partners; he does love it when attention is lavished upon him!

Jack will be one to watch in the future!

BLOODLINES

Sire: BELSHAZZAR (CWHBA)

Jack’s sire Belshazzar has competed up to the CCI4* level of Eventing, and at 18 year of age, is still sound and competing as easy 1.20m and 1.30m jumper and upper level event horse.  Belshazzar has superb gaits and a fabulous gallop. Over fences, he has cat like reflexes and scope to spare.

Belshazzar is very much like his sire, Beach Boy. Oldenburg licensed in Germany, Beach Boy placed 6th out of 52 stallions. Beach Boy is an elite international stallion and has numerous approved sons and competition progeny in upper-level jumping and dressage across the globe.  Beach Boy is the only stallion in Sweden to have an equally high BLUP index of 141 for both jumping and gaits. Beach Boy’s sire Zeus (Selle Francais and Anglo Arab blood) was a consistent sire of top jumping horses over a long career in both Germany and Holland. Playback with Rodney Jenkins won the 1987 AHSA Jumper of the Year and was sixth at the World Cup Final in 1989. Canadian rider Ian Millar had success with both Lonesome Dove and Czar - both by Zeus.

Belshazzar’s dam, Aphrodite, is a full sister to Amphora, the dam of Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires represented Canada at the 2008 Olympic Games. Aphrodite’s Dam sire Arkansas, is also the dam sire of Champion Hanoverian Stallion, Escudo I.

Dam:  Lavita of Laomedon of Lauries Crusador

Jack’s Dam Lavita is by the stallion Laomedon, who is is by the famous Lauries Crusador xx, a full blood thoroughbred stallion whose career as a breeding stallion exceeded all expectation and changed the Hanoverian breed.

Lauries Crusador was Hanoverian stallion of the Year 2007.  In the 2014 Hanoverian Stallion Yearbook, he was listed as having 2428 registered progeny in Hanover with 811 registered broodmares, with 279 States Premiums amongst them. He has 723 competition horses, including 605 dressage competitors, with 80 competing at advanced level. He is the sire of 55 licensed sons. Lauries Crusador has a value of 142 for type which is one of the highest scores of all the Hanoverian stallions.

Lavita’s Dam is Fledermaus, sired by Florestan I.  Florestan I is the sire of over 80 approved sons, including Fidermark, a four-year-old champion at the Bundeschampionate and a Grand Prix performer. The mare, Ferrara won the five-year-old class at the Bundeschampionate and went on to compete at Prix St Georges level with Isabell Werth. At the 2002 Bundeschampionate, Florestan I had five representatives including the 4-year-old stallion winner, French Kiss, who went on to win the World Young Dressage Horse championship for 6 year olds in 2004; while another Florestan I son, Florencio won the 5-year-old title at the same Championships.  Florestan I’s son, Florestan II, is the dam sire of Stephen Peters 2016 Olympic Dressage mount, Legolas 92(Leomedon x Florestan II).
